The Problem
One common problem at most workplace cafeterias is quickly finding a place to sit alone or with a group of people at lunchtime.
1) Sometimes open tables are not clean.
2) Large tables are sometimes occupied by a single person.
3) Corporate clients do not want to hire additional staff to seat people; the seating should be self-serve.
The Research
Identifying the Stakeholders
-
‘B2E’ or Business to Employee application.
-
The buyer would be someone in Human Resources, operations, or Facilities that wants to make the best of the cafeteria space.
-
The buyer needs visibility into how well space is being utilized and secondarily that the employees like and use the proposed solution/ application.

Thus, proactive and upward communication needs to get to the buyer, while keeping the solution/ application simple and easy to use for employees.

When thinking about a solution, I also like to look at other comparable tools and processes to understand what user experience and expectations are based on prior knowledge.
